After Capture Tasks

ShareX automatically performs several actions after taking a screenshot. It copies the screenshot you just took to clipboard, saves it to your files, and then uploads it to a host on the internet. (I will show you how to change the host later on this guide)

Configuring Upload Destinations

While the default upload service works well, ShareX supports various platforms such as, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and Custom hosting solutions.

To setup your upload service, head to the “Destinations” section, however over “Image uploader”, and select “File uploader”. Here you can choose your favorit service.

Setting Up Your Save Location

By defaul, ShareX save screenshots in documents inside a folder called ShareX. If you want to set up a custom folder:

Navigate to “Application Settings” ShareX Head To Application Settings

Under “Paths”, Check “Use custom Screenshot folder” and click browse Setup ShareX Save Location

Create a dedicated screenshots folder in your Pictures directory, and select your new folder as the save location. Create Screenshots Folder in Pictures Directory

ShareX will automatically organize your screenshots by year and month for easy access.

Advanced Features

Built-in Image Editor

To enable the image editor integration, go to “Application Settings”. ShareX Head To Application Settings

Under “Integration”, check “Show Edit with ShareX button in Windows Explorer context menu”. Enable ShareX Image Editor From Intergration Under Application Settings

Now you can simply right click on your screenshot, and select “Edit with ShareX” to open the image editor. Edit With ShareX Context Menu Option

The image editor allows you to, add text annotations, create highlights, and much more.

Optimizing Your Workflow

These are some recommended settings adjustments to optimize your workflow.

Disable sound notifications for a quieter experience

Go to “Task Settings”. ShareX Task Settings

Under “Screen Recorder”. You can adjust FPS for video and GIF recordings, you can also set up a delay if needed.
